About this show

The awards honor outstanding performances in all areas of the multidiscipline Fresh Fruit Festival, as well as recognizing community leaders whose achievements include supporting the arts and the LGBT community. This year the community award, called the PassionFruit Award, will be presented to State Senator Tom Duane; Off-Broadway legend playwright Doric Wilson and Under The Pink Carpet producer Tony Sawicki. This year's event will be co-hosted by long time Fresh Fruit hostess Lady Clover Honey who is,( according to the LGBT History Project), the first openly transgender correspondent to regularly star on a national TV show (Under the Pink Carpet) and only the second Drag Queen (after RuPaul and her show) to do so. Lady Clover has also replaced Lady Bunny in the critically acclaimed off-Broadway comedy When Joey Married Bobby by award-winning playwright William Wyatt. Co-host Frank Calo is the producer of Spotlight On Festivals, co-founder of Planet Connections Festivity and former Artistic Director of the Sage Theatre Company. Frank is also the host of the Fresh Fruit Playhouse as well as variety shows throughout NJ and NY. Performances for the evening will include recording artist Nhojj who recently had the No. 1 video "Love" on the MTV music chart; powerhouse singer Ana Iza Otis; cabaret performer Teresa Fischer and our own co-host Lady Clover Honey.
