New York City
Summer Fresh Festival: New Theatre Works
$18 - $20
The goal of the Summer Fresh Festival is to present works that present queer life, race issues, gender norms, sexuality, mental illness, and equality issues as we live and breathe them every day. Our country is in a position where we’re learning about a lot of the ugly we thought we left behind. This festival is a way of telling everyone — actor, writer, audience member, down to the person sitting at their desk who received a video of it — that they are not alone. That we see what you see, we feel how you feel, and we will let the future generations know that we got through this together, as the Rent and Fiddler on the Roofs of shows have shown us, as a community, and particularly through presenting new shows. The Summer Fresh Festival will be presenting ‘Tis the Season by Janelle Lawrence, Gold Star by Imani Russell, and Barriers by Jimmy Cintron. These are all first presentations in NYC.
