About This Show

The Storefront presents two benefit performances only
of Rags in Concert. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1986, closing after just four performances and several weeks of previews. The show has been continually re-written by its celebrated authors, Charles Strouse (music), Stephen Schwartz (lyrics), and Joe Stein (book). This latest version has never before been seen in New York. Set against the backdrop of 1910 New York, the musical concerns Russian immigrants and the struggles they face adapting to American society, socially, politically and financially.

The Storefront concert production features celebrated vocalist Anne Runolfsson (Victor/Victoria, Les Miserables) in the lead role, and Leslie Kritzer (Fanny in the Papermill Playhouse production of Funny Girl and more recently the Mother in Bat Boy), as Bella.
