DuBois (1868 – 1963), one of the most influential black leaders of the first half of the 20th century. W.E.B. DuBois was a scholar, (the first African American to receive a PH.D. from Harvard University) a visionary, an author and a prominent early civil rights leader (a cofounder of the NAACP in 1909.)
