The Full Swanky, written and performed by Leighann Lord, is a middle class Black woman’s descent into massive debt as she tries to shop her way up the social ladder, presumably to happiness. This true life story touches upon so many issues in our contemporary culture: materialism, self-worth, racism, power, image, debt, self-control, education, class…all in the form of shopping.
