Persephone

Messenger Theatre Company presents a multimedia production of the Greek myth Persephone, incorporating handheld puppets and masks. On the earth, Demeter rules nature with her daughter Persephone while Zeus (in various puppet disguises) fraternizes with mortal women. Demon puppets inhabit the Underworld, ruled by their master, Hades. Hilarity ensues when Hades abducts Persephone, but beneath the snappy dialogue and evocative visuals lie themes of transformation, grief, and rebirth.
