About this show

Come experience the story of Montgomery Park. How it was built, and how it burned. It is a cycle of spoken tales and paranormal dances that threatens the stability of your own identity and charts the rise of terrible energy. Weaving together aspects of anachronistic 19th century proscenium lectures and storytelling within an environment of immersive video and sound, Keithley pulls us out of the dark and then plunges us back into it, creating a feeling of abundant description: opulence. Begun in response to William James' The Varieties of Religious Experience, the text asks where the boundaries lie between different kinds of conscious beings, and channels Edgar Allen Poe by embedding questions of mind in spooky stories.
