The York Theatre Company presents a musical play based on the life of performing legend Al Jolson. The musical opens with a 1949 radio interview of Jolson at the Winter Garden Theatre. Through a series of flashbacks, we get to view his professional and personal relationships. Jolson’s accomplishments as an entertainer are unprecedented, from The Jazz Singer to the forming of the USO, his influence on popular culture was enormous. “Sonny Boy”, “You Made Me Love You”, and “Swanee” are just a few Jolson classics performed during this wonderful evening.-dlm
