Coded Bodies

Exit Art and SAWCC (South Asian Women’s Creative Collective) present Coded Bodies, a program of video and performance work by SAWCC members. Both the videos and the performances are centered around a particular situation of the body: when the artist assembling a personal iconography does not find representations that resemble her within the popular imagery surrounding her, that artist often turns inward to the surface or substance of the unrepresented body to create new icons.
