About This Show

Four people are hearing the same music inside their heads, but none of them realize the others hear it too. Simultaneously, 200 years earlier, the same music plays in Ludwig von Beethoven’s profoundly deaf head while he is writing nasty letters to his dissolute son in Vienna. Elevator Repair Service choreographer Katherine Profeta’s 131 delves deeply into Beethoven’s Opus 131, arugably the composer’s oddest string quartet, and very possibly his best. Working the room between choreographed steps and spontaneous behavior, tapping the mysteries of the videogame Dance Dance Revolution, Profeta and her mixed group of actors and dancers create a humorous exploration of distance (long and short), communication (from pretty good to very bad), and what exactly moves people.
