About the Show

108 Waverly EXTENDED!! Saturday Night Performance now available!

108 Waverly is a new musical contrasting the lives of two gay couples living decades apart but sharing the same West Village apartment. The first couple is set in the 1920’s when society’s moral tolerances of love were much narrower. They summoned exposure with every glance and continually risked their careers, family and way of life just to be together. Set in the 1990s, the contemporary couple braves the waters of commitment and responsibility in the carefree cruisy world of the modern gay man. Tackling the real issues of their respective times we get a nice pallet of social issues pertinent to gay people of all eras.

The stories are told in tandem and effectively portrayed with the creative use of lighting, sets, and costumes. Lynn Portas has musically juxtaposed the two time periods by means of edgy, rockish musical themes against classic melodic styles. Coupled with the comprehensive writing style of Dan Clancy 108 Wavely pops from the stage and gives its audience a unique insight of the distinctive lives of gay men on a broad scale.
