About This Show

As part of the 2005 Next Wave Festival, BAM presents 4.48 Psychose — the powerful, final work of British playwright Sarah Kane. Directed by the renowned Claude Régy, and featuring the U.S. stage debut of the formidable film and stage actress Isabelle Huppert, 4.48 Psychose is both harrowing and eloquently beautiful. Kane’s most experimental play, it comprises a personal account of mental anguish and psychological collapse — its comments on therapy, despondent diary entries, and accounts of psychotropic drug treatment are all reflective of the author’s own torment prior to her suicide.
