About This Show

It is a rare opportunity for American audiences to see performances of Noh and Kyogen theater back-to-back, which is the historical form of presenting Japan’s classical theater. This exciting evening features three of Japan’s Living National Treasures: Noh performers Kuroemon Katayama and Kan Hosyo, and Kyogen performer Sensaku Shingeyama. The Nohbaku Kyokai was founded three years ago by distinguished leaders of Noh performers and musicians, aiming to enhance contemporary audience appreciation of the artistry of Noh and Kyogen.
