Developmental Reading Series
A staged reading of the new musical Monet, with music and lyrics by Carmel Owen, and book by Joan Ross Sorkin. Monet is inspired by the remarkable life of Claude Monet and the price he ultimately paid for his art. Think mystery, romance, and revolution, and one painting that changed everything. The show has been in development, most recently at an evening of song and story at the French Consulate. Projection design and lighting will be added at the York to integrate the color and light of Impressionism into the drama.
Monet will play two performances. The readings are free and open to the public on the day of the presentation. Advance reservations are available with a minimum suggested donation of $10 fee for each reading (advance reservations are complimentary for York Theatre's Plus Members; $5 for York Theatre Members).
