Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn's 2009 New York Times bestseller Half The Sky follows the stories of extraordinary women from around the world as they struggle to overcome oppression. Now, Kristof and WuDunn along with CARE, an international nonprofit that works to improve the lives of impoverished women, have teamed up for a special event that will take place at the Skirball Center on February 11 and be broadcast to movie theaters across the country on March 4, the week of International Women's Day. Half the Sky LIVE will features musical performances by India Arie, Angelique Kidjo, and Michael Franti, a screening of Marisa Tomei and Lisa Leone's new short film Woineshet and, a discussion with insightful commentary from Kristof, Maria Bello and other celebrity guests.
