Broadway Belts for PFF! is an annual benefit for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, featuring Broadway stars in an evening of music and comedy. It was started in 2010 by one of PFF's leading advocates nationwide, the Broadway actor and comedian Julie Halston (You Can't Take It With You). This year's concert features an appearance by New York Yankees legend and Latin Grammy Award nominee Bernie Williams, whose father died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Also performing are Bryan Terrell Clark (Hamilton), Robert Creighton (Frozen), Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita (Matilda), and others.
The event raises money to fight pulmonary fibrosis, a fatal progressive disease involving scarring in the lungs. Fifty thousand new cases are diagnosed every year. Many people live only two or three years after the diagnosis — there is no known cure.
