Break of Reality is a cello quartet gone mad. The esteemed three cello and drums/percussion group present their newest CD "Spectrum of the Sky" for the first time in their official CD Release Concert at Baruch Performing Arts Center's 600-seat Mason Hall. The group will perform its original compositions along with covers of popular rock groups like Metallica and System of a Down. The madness of Break of Reality is serving them well; the band is filling concert venues around the country with fans eager to hear "cello rock". Break of Reality's sound is cinematic, subdued and heavy all at once. Their live audiences are equally diverse; fans of Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Yo Yo Ma are finally getting acquainted. Break of Reality has performed in every type of venue, from popular New York City clubs such as Joe's Pub and the Knitting Factory, to esteemed classical music halls, such as the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center in New York and Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music. In 2006, Break of Reality released an independent album, The Sound Between, which has sold over 20,000 copies in the United States and around the world. The band will tour to support their newest CD "Spectrum of the Sky." The members of Break of Reality have been applauded for their "thunderous tone" and their "take no prisoner approach to cello playing" (Sacramento Bee Newspaper, June 2007). Their sound has been described as having "excitement, originality, and an undeniable intensity that louder, heavier bands only dream of. Break of Reality is going to win a Grammy someday. Bank on it." (Rochester City News, April 2007).
