Now living in Paris, former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company soloist Stefanie Batten Bland returns home to present a celebration of dance, music and film. The contributors include her husband and creative collaborator, the French filmmaker Guillaume Le Grontec; and her father, the well-known jazz composer and musician Ed Bland. Clearly, Ms. Bland likes to keep things All In the Family. The films include such renowned dancers as Ayo Janeen Jackson, Julie Bour and Desmond Richardson. The ballets take you on a long road trip, there are the actions and reactions to light space and time as we lean our heads against the windows and watch the scenery whish by. This evening-length work is composed of three of our ballets and three of our video dance ?lms. The result is a multimedia, trans-generational, multi-cultural presentation that combines three genres: music, dance and film. Jeanne Boujenah's scenic design provides a seamless evening that turns the leaves of time and sheds the different choreographic skins, allowing the audience to absorb not only live dance but also the growing genre of dance cinema.
