About This Show

Yolanda Robinson is the daughter of legendary gospel-blues singer, songwriter and Off-Broadway actress Topsy Chapman. After studying and playing with respected clarinetist and educator Alvin Batiste, Yolanda earned recognition among her peers as one of New Orleans’ finest female vocalists of jazz, blues, and gospel. Whether she is fronting the lauded Original Tuxedo Jazz Band with drummer Bob French or singing with her mother's group, Topsy Chapman and Solid Harmony, Yolanda is known for her sultry, soulful vocal stylings.

Tonight, Yolanda performs with pianist and composer Larry Sieberth's trio.
Pianist, composer and producer Lawrence Sieberth is at home in virtually any musical setting. While based in jazz, Larry's musical vision is not limited by genre barriers – he prefers to integrate the many facets of music and performance into an engaging, inclusive experience. His own neo-bop improvisations and experimental inclinations combine with his classical and world music influences, delivering an extensive musical vocabulary that many have employed for the stage, film, and television. Sieberth has released more than 15 records since 1985, composed for the Marigny Opera Ballet and the World Olympics, and held esteemed collaborations with icons such as Allen Toussaint, Irma Thomas, Charles Neville, Victor Goines, Jason Marsalis, among others. When not composing for opera, ballet, theatre, film or television, Larry is regularly performing with The Original Tuxedo Jazz Band and "The First Lady of New Orleans Jazz," Ms.  Germaine Bazzle.
