About This Show
Shannon Powell is a highly sought after drummer and percussionist who has achieved international acclaim for his commanding technique and style, rooted in the characteristic funky drum beats of New Orleans.
As a youth growing up in New Orleans' storied Faubourg Tremé, home to many of the city's jazz greats, Powell was surrounded by music. By age 6, Shannon Powell was playing drums regularly for his church, the First Garden Christ Church. It was a natural transition from the raw spiritualism and rhythms of his church to the driving grooves of traditional New Orleans jazz. Soon after, he began visiting and performing at the historic Preservation Hall alongside local legends such as Cié Frasier and Freddie Coleman.
Tonight, he presents his quartet, featuring:

and special guest: Charlie Gabriel – saxophone, reeds

All performances are currently sold at half the normal audience capacity in order to maintain safer social distancing, creating an even more intimate listening experience. Proof of covid vaccination or negative PCR test with photo ID are required for entry. Due to the small, intimate size of our venue, masks are also still required for entry. With the limited seating, advance tickets online are strongly suggested! Walk-up tickets will be sold at the door only as seats remain available.
Doors Open at 7:30pm and 9:30pm for the 8:00pm and 10:00pm shows. Restaurant is open 6pm – 10pm for dinner before or after your show.
Bar is open 6pm – Midnight.
