About this show

Gianni Schicchi, Puccini's only comedy, masterfully satirizes human hypocrisy and greed, whereas its companion piece, Il Tabarro, is a rare example in Puccini of what might be called "opera noir," with its bitter and existentialist view of human life and love. In both operas, the theme of death and dislocation forms a central focus.
