About This Show

Blue/Orange, by Joe Penhall, is the enthralling and unnerving story of Christopher, a young mental patient due for release from a London psychiatric hospital. Given his claim of being the son of an African dictator, however, his doctor diagnoses schizophrenia and advises he remain locked up. His doctor’s supervisor, who always has one eye on the bottom line, disagrees. After all, others need the bed. What begins as a power struggle between two psychiatrists from different generations soon becomes a full-out battle about race, class, and mental illness. It’s a three-sided conflict that sacrifices Christopher’s fate for a better understanding of human sanity.
