About This Show

In Night of the Living Dolls: A Doll is Never Just a Doll, Ballet of the Dolls’ Artistic Director Myron Johnson blends his unique aesthetic of ballet, mime, jazz, and theater into an evening of tricks and treats that audiences won’t soon forget.

Once upon a time there lived a magical and mysterious man, Herr
Speilzeug, who made the most beautiful dolls. Anyone who peeked into his colorful, charming shop was amazed at how life-like his creations were. Everyone in town dreamed of one day owning one of his dolls but he would never agree to sell any of them. Frau Hexe, the wealthy widow in the town, who all the children called “a witch” wanted to own one of the dolls and
offered the doll maker lots of money but still he would refuse. One night, as Herr Speilzeug was leaving for his nightly stroll, Frau Hexe slipped into the shop. What happened inside that night was more mystifying than any of us could ever have imagined.
