About This Show

Ken LaZebnik’s League of Nations looks at baseball through the lens of Spanish, Japanese and Korean interpreters who help newly-arrived Major Leaguers adapt to and communicate with fans, agents, the media, teammates and management. The play follows the Disney-owned Angels, who have just acquired a high-priced Japanese pitching ace, making the bullpen overcrowded by one pitcher. Cultures, languages, races, ages, and even genders collide as Korean sophomore Wah Bo, a closer, vies with a Mexican veteran, an African American middle reliever in the twilight of his career, and a young blond starter to stay on the mound and roster.
