About This Show

New Theatre presents the world premiere of A Town Like Irving by Michael McKeever, directed by Barbara Lowery. The town of Irving is shaken in the early morning hours of a hot August day. A savage hate crime has been committed on the grounds of the town’s high school. The body of a young man has been discovered hanging from the school’s goal post, the word fag carved across his stomach. Friends and family gather at the local bar. Long-buried emotions and half-realized fears bubble up to the surface. A New York newspaperman shows up with an agenda of his own. Beneath the placid façade of the pleasant little town lies a dark underside. The mystery unravels into morality play as the denizens of the town are forced to come to terms with their own prejudices and fears.
