About This Show

L.A. Theatre Works presents Ken Ludwig’s new adaptation of Twentieth Century, the classic screwball comedy set aboard a luxury train en route from Chicago to New York. All performances are recorded to air on LATW’s nationally-syndicated radio theater series, The Play’s the Thing, which broadcasts weekly on public and satellite radio.

In Twentieth Century, successful and egomaniacal Broadway director Oscar Jaffe has transformed a chorus girl into a leading lady. Years and several successful plays later, Lily leaves for Hollywood, and Jaffe’s plays begin to flop. When Oscar runs into her on board the glamorous Twentieth Century Limited, he pulls out all the stops to persuade the now-famous and temperamental star to return for one more show.
