About This Show

Julian Fleisher’s concerts have become legendary affairs in his adopted home town of New York. But sold out crowds in swanky clubs weren’t enough. After seeing native New Yorker Martha Plimpton in “Flesh and Blood,” Julian knew Martha had caught the “comedy bug”. On a lark, he invited her to be his special guest at The Public Theater’s nightclub Joe’s Pub. Marty, as Julian likes to call her, joined him for just one number — his own bluesy anthem “Can I Get a Light” — and together with his 11-piece band they set the room on fire. Who knew she could sing? Who knew he could write?

Recalling such legendary tag-teams as Steve and Edie, Fred and Wilma, George and that other Martha, Julian Fleisher and Martha Plimpton fill in each others’ blanks and light each other’s fires in Together Again For The Third Time! Their work onstage includes not only an ever-changing list of exciting and often surprising renditions of songs both old and new, but the kind of playful and spontaneous banter one might expect from two seasoned performers the size of whose egos is matched only by their fragility. Acclaimed director Robert Egan puts the theatre into the work combining nightclub, theatre and special event into one sensational package!
