About This Show

Smartly breaking boundaries and boldly defying conventions, The Word Begins is a provocative examination of race, modern love and masculinity today. Who better than two National Poetry Slam Grand Champions to take on the subject of the power of words in our current cultural landscape – and how those words are used to define our ideas of love, faith, and humanity in America.

Nominated for three Helen Hayes Awards (Best Acting, Best Writing, and Best Original Production), the Word Begins is a roller-coaster ride of edgy, sexually charged, alternately shocking and hilarious moments and is not for those easily offended by strong language.
