About This Show

Michael Cristofer’s powerful Pulitzer Prize and 1977 Tony Award-winning play, The Shadow Box, concerns three families facing the truth about life who endure their circumstances with passion, joy, and humor. The action takes place in three cottages located in the woods by a lake. Joe is a blue collar worker from New Jersey whose wife, Maggie, and son, Steve, are soon to arrive. Brian is being attended to by Mark, his lover and caretaker, when his former wife drunkenly surprises them with a visit. Wheelchair-bound Felicity provokes her conservative daughter, Agnes, with sassy backtalk, bawdy ballads, and increasing dementia.

The Shadow Box is about wonderfully different people who learn about living until you die rather than dying while you live. Catherine Michaels directs.
