About This Show

The Attic Theatre presents The Hiding Place, by Tony Award winning author of Avenue Q Jeff Whitty.

Set in mid-90’s New York City, the play concerns Karl, a popular but unsatisfied novelist, and Myra, a struggling playwright/waitress new to the city. The two meet and embark upon a letter writing affair with notes left hidden for each other in a secret spot on a busy street in Manhattan. Eventually letters lead way to a more involved physical affair which, when ended by Karl, is then in turn dramatized by Myra. On a very syncopated opening night, their relationship is made public creating much turmoil for Karl and Myra as well as their circle of friends and fellow artists.

Told in a series of flashbacks and fast forwards, The Hiding Place not only satirizes the literary, theatrical and art scene of New York City but also dramatizes the relentless passions and yearnings that lie in the hearts of all artists everywhere..
