About This Show

A little knowledge is a dangerously funny thing, so never assume!

Celebrating 35 years since its debut, the Lonny Chapman Group Repertory Theatre (LCGRT) presents a revival of William Marchant’s popular office comedy, The Desk Set. The 1956 play was the basis for the 1957 feature film version from 20th Century-Fox, starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy.

Set in the mid 1950s, the story is centered on a highly efficient and very human staff of researchers (hence the play’s title) nestled comfortably in a major broadcast company. That is, until the installation in another department of a computer system named Emmarac. Adding to the anxiety of this news is an efficiency expert, sent in to determine whether or not there is a need for a similar computer in their department!

The cast features Michele Bernath (Bunny Watson), Kim Burns (Peg Costello), Klair Bybee (Abe Cutler), Michael Dean Connolly (The Man in the Shirt Sleeves), Diane Frank (Miss Warriner), Robert Gallo (Richard Sumner), Patrick Gunn (Mr. Bennett and Mr. Ferris), Trisha Hershberger (Sadel Meyer), Alanna Kelly (Elsa), Lillian Robinson (The Lady), Jennifer Ross (Ruthie Saylor), and Justin Vasquez (Kenny).

Production Stage Manager is Linda Borregales, set by Chris Winfield, costumes by Diana Martin, sound design by Doug Engalla. Produced for the LCGRT by Laura Coker. Directed by Doug Engalla.
