On October 5th, 2011 at the Dragonfly Theatre in the heart of Los Angeles’s theatre district you will be catapulted back to a long forgotten year in popular culture: 1995. The year the Dutch madman Paul Verhoeven followed up his masterpiece Basic Instinct with a 42 million dollar rhinestoned disaster called Showgirls! Side by side with the likes of Bette Davis & Joan Crawford, our heroines Elizabeth Berkley & Gina Gershon passed into cult history as one of the most unforgettable female duos. Willam Belli (Nomi), Hollywood’s hardest working television tranny teams up with “Queen of the Clubs” Detox iCunt (Crystal Connors) in this absolutely insane parody version of “one of the worst film’s in history”. The Dragonfly presents Showgirls: In Drag every Wednesday for as long as there are Showgirls fans in this world! Joined by the infamous Ms. Barbie-Q (Molly the Narrator) and the larger-than-life talents of Vicki Vox (Big Mama) this stellar cast vividly relives these historic screen moments, that we hold so dear, in a 75 minute tour-de-force of dragtastic comedy and dance. The Dragonfly intends on following up each evening’s performance with a special themed after-party hosted by the outrageous musical group Transkunitental, the world’s only all-drag punk rock band. Directed by Stephen Guarino (LOGO’s The Big Gay Sketch Show) this drag-tastrophe is sure to have you reliving the worst and best moments of your gay 90’s.
