About This Show

Queen Christina of Sweden (1626-1689) wishes to abdicate her throne and convert to Roman Catholicism. Coincident with her change of religious allegiance is her sexual involvement with a nun, Sister Gizele. Pope Julius II (1443-1513) is anxious to have Christina, the most famous woman in the world at the time, join his church, if she’ll keep her personal life under wraps. England’s Edward II (1284-1327), her devoted friend and a gay activist, wants her to shout her affair from the rooftops. But the Pope has operatives in place to assist him in getting his way: his own lover, Father Sebastian; Republican operative Roy Cohn (1927-1986); and composer Peter Tchaikovsky (1840-1893).

Will she convert? Will she give up her throne? Is her change of faith born of religious conviction, or is she doing it all for love?
