About This Show

Hugh Whitemore’s real-life spy story Pack of Lies gets recorded for radio when L.A. Theatre Works presents five performances June 16 – 20 as part of The Play’s The Thing radio theater series. Peter Levin directs Rosalind Ayres, Martin Jarvis, Megan Austin Oberle, Julian Sands, and David Selby at the Skirball Cultural Center.

Inspired by actual events during the Cold War, Pack of Lies is instilled with new relevance in the era of the Patriot Act. In suburban London, loyalty, duty and friendship conflict with one another when an ordinary family is enlisted by the MI5, Britain’s intelligence agency, to keep watch on its neighbors and cherished best friends who, the Jacksons are shocked to discover, are suspected Russian spies.
