About This Show

Athol Fugard’s dramatic masterpiece, Master Harold… and the boys, starring Kevin Daniels and Tony-nominee (for Jelly’s Last Jam) Keith David, and directed by Stuart K. Robinson, will be recorded for radio May 12 through 16 at the Skirball Cultural Center by L.A. Theatre Works.

Athol Fugard’s powerful drama about a white adolescent’s initiation in the uses of racial power bravely and unflinchingly retells an embarrassing and painful chapter from Fugard’s own teenage years. At once lyrical and explosive, Master Harold cuts to the heart of racism, friendship and the bonds between fathers and sons. It remains, more than twenty years after it first premiered, the crowning achievement of Fugard’s long, distinguished career.
