New York City
Zoo District proudly presents the World Premiere of a new stage adaptation of the Russian masterpiece, THE MASTER AND MARGARITA. The play explores the romance between Margarita and her tortured lover, while revealing the Master’s distress with the Soviet State’s refusal to publish his master work?a novel about Pilate’s dictation of the crucifixion of Christ. The story of Pilate and Jesus, as told in the Master’s novel, is a radical departure from the gospels showing a Pilate who is enamored with Christ but painted into a bureaucratic corner. The story also explores Satan and his minions coming to Moscow to observe the new political experiment, Communism, which purports to be doing away with selfishness.
