Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and the Morgan-Wixson is thrilled to be celebrating the occasion with this glorious musical. Little Women follows the saga of the March sisters — Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy — as they grow up in Civil War America. Jo is trying to sell her stories but publishers are not interested. Her friend, Professor Bhaer, urges her to write more from her heart. Taking his advice, Jo weaves the story of her and her sisters and their experiences into her work. The show, which brought Sutton Foster her second Tony nomination, features a stunning score by Grammy winner Jason Howland.
Book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein. Directed by Anne Gesling, who helmed the sold-out hit A Winter's Tale last fall.
Recommended for ages 10 and up.
