About This Show

Widely regarded as Shakespeare’s greatest tragedy and arguably one of the greatest English-language plays ever written, King Lear explores domestic, spritual and political themes in a primal world and an ambiguous time that could just as easily be hundreds of years ago or hundreds of years from now. At once apocalyptic and mythic, this show is an intimate portrait of a family’s disintegration, with Lear’s draconian daughters Regan and Goneril terrorizing their father and his kingdom while his youngest and best, Cordelia, and her allies fight for his life. It is a tale of fathers and their unloved sons and daughters, of catastrophic change, and of the individual at the mercy of a hostile world – a tale that speaks powerfully to modern audiences.
