Charlayne Woodard personifies happy, exuberant and passionate, but the rhythms and wisdom of Langston Hughes’ famous poem keep coming back to haunt Charlayne. In Charlayne’s newest dramatic telling of her family business, she arrives in New York City as a naïve drama school graduate with two suitcases, one violin and five audition monologues, to become an actress. She’s young and gifted, full of hope and dreams and ready to take on Manhattan, Broadway and the world. As only Charlayne can, she takes us along on the bumpy ride to follow her dreams, all the while expressing her natural delight and brilliance for performance and storytelling.
