About This Show

This is not the story of the dead father, who lies in the middle of the living room awaiting his burial, or the poet mother who died young, or even the lab mice used to isolate the gene of love. It is the story of the three sisters who search for validation amidst the loneliness of the city, of the boy who frees them, and of the Hudson River, which may hold the greatest story ever told. Food for Fish is the story of finding home.

Loosely based on Chekhov’s The Three Sisters, Adam Szymkowicz’s portrayal of longing and alienation in the city of Manhattan is whimsical, satirical and arrestingly real. The characters search past themselves for identity only to be led farther from who they really are. With the final depositing of their father’s body into the Hudson River, the sisters are able to discover the life force in each other that offers the ultimate strength: the unconditional love of home and family.
