About This Show

The swords are flying and love is in the air – grab your sweetheart and head to the Knightsbridge Theatre. Edmond Rostand’s classic tale of Cyrano (Stachura) centers on love, inner beauty, truth and integrity. Cyrano, known for his rapier-like wit, great swordsmanship, and yes, his large, grotesque nose, is convinced that no woman will ever love him, especially his beautiful cousin Roxanne (Mitchell). Since he feels he cannot have Roxanne for himself, he agrees to help the handsome but tongue-tied Christian de Neuvillette (Briseno) court Roxanne. The plan works so well that Roxanne marries Christian, thwarting the amorous desires of Cyrano and the Comte de Guiche (Stifel). Discovering that Cyrano was instrumental in the marriage, de Guiche seeks revenge by sending both men to the Battle of Arras where they are sure to be attacked, outnumbered and killed by the enemy. Before they leave, Roxanne makes Cyrano promise to make sure Christian write to her every day and Cyrano seizes the opportunity to express his own love for Roxanne in love letters that he signs as Christian. What began as an innocent deception is bound to reap tragic consequences.
