About this show

One house, two acts, 50 years apart. The events surrounding the sale of a Chicago home make Clybourne Park, by Bruce Norris, compelling, funny and deeply profound. Written as a spin-off to Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun, it examines causes and consequences of neighborhood gentrification. When a tragedy is swept under the rug in the interest of preserving community, generations of neighbors are ironically affected. Racism, war, mental health, and the role of community are explored with subtlety and humor as we get to know several families and the connections that run between them. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2011 and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2012, Clybourne Park is presented for Fringe by Stage Against the Machine, a non-profit theater company, with 30% of ticket sales being donated to New Directions for Veterans. You won't have to wait 50 years between Act 1 and Act 2, but be sure to secure your spots for both performances.
