About This Show

Now in its 12th year, The Blank Theatre Company presents its annual Young Playwrights Festival, which is dedicated to developing and producing plays and musicals by playwrights 19 years and younger. Over the past eleven years, the Festival has developed and produced over 124 plays and musicals by playwrights as young as 13 years old! The productions are as follows:

June 3-6: Thurs/Fri/Sat 8pm; Sun 2pm
Restless Peace by Jessica Juhrend (14)
Two half-sisters face their grandfather’s funeral along with their family’s secrets.

Wrestling with Love by Rebecca Arzoian (17)
It’s hard enough being the hottest guy in school AND captain of the wrestling team – without also falling in love with your physics teacher!

Guilt by Travis Baker (19)
Have you ever been accused of something you know you didn’t do? Imagine how Collin feels when it happens to him and that “something” is murder!

We love camping: Fresh air…warm breezes…Nature trails…Talking bears…Talking bears?

The Sandwich Conscience by Yelena Moskovich (19)
Frank, a war veteran, tries to work through his past as he makes his lunch. Will he ever expel his demons?

Anyone but Me by Sherman Oaks (15)
A charming musical about a young man named Joey Shmelnick. Joey knows he would be liked by his favorite girl; if he only weren’t a nerd. Well then…meet Joey Nichols!

Los Angeles Lullaby by Kit Steinkellner (17)
Sonia has a new baby, a neighbor kid who never seems to leave her house and then her estranged famous father shows up on her doorstep. Can Sonia make it through on her own or will she let them help?

Brotherly Love by Eric Kanner (16)
Three brothers get ready for the eldest’s wedding. As they try to figure out how to tie a bow tie, they figure out more important things instead.

Castles Made of Sand by David Watson (15)
Think your family is dysfuntional? You have nothing on this one! Joey looks back on his past and the family he ran away from.

Rise Up by Adam Westfall Cochran (17)
San should have looked both ways before he crossed the street. He enver saw the Amish buggy coming! This wacky musical takes Sam to hell and back!
