About This Show

The Tricycle presents a double bill in order to celebrate Black History Month.
Wine in the Wilderness, by Alice Childress, takes place in Harlem in Bill Jameson’s studio. Jameson is working on a series of paintings that explore aspects of Black womanhood. Set over 48 hours during the Harlem riots of 1964, the show provides a bittersweet debate on African-American identity. Nicolas Kent directs.
Water is Winsome Pinnock’s contemporary response to Wine in the Wilderness and is performed by the same cast.
