About This Show

Theater Schmeater presents The Reluctant Dragon, by Kenneth Grahame, in a playful adaptation by Lela and David H. Szondy.

A peasant boy discovers the lair of a dragon outside of his village. A well read dragon geek, the boy braces himself for confrontation, only to discover that the dragon is a poetry reading, laconic slacker more interested in warming himself in the early summer sun than in devouring the village’s flocks. Although the boy and the dragon make friends, word leaks out about the dragon’s presence, and in what could only be called a medieval media blitz, the villagers invite St. George to their community to publicly, and profitably, slay the dragon.

All performances will be at or near the amphitheater in Volunteer Park, on Seattle’s Capitol Hill, and are free and open to the public.
