About This Show

Set in June, during the late 1950’s, The Catskill Sonata is a funny and poignant story of activism, desire and loss. Set apart from larger and lavish Catskills hotels, Rosen’s caters to left-leaning writers, musicians and artists of the day such as Dave Vaughn, a brilliantly failed writer. Hiding from his losses past and present, Dave dispenses advice from the patio about everything—especially sex and writing—to young bellhop Irwin. For twenty years, Annie Rosen has attracted a bohemian group of guests who argue politics, listen to music, ramble in nature and, sometimes, fall in love. But this year is different. The blacklist looms and many of Annie’s friends are losing their jobs, and changing times are luring travelers abroad.
