About This Show

Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway triumph was the first for which he contributed the score after his astounding successes as lyricist for Gypsy and West Side Story. Co-written by Larry Gelbart, A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum remains one of the funniest musical comedies ever in a topsy-turvy plot drawn from the great comedies of Plautus involving romance, deception, temptation, mistaken identity, and an almost human sacrifice. All this and singing and dancing too.
