About This Show

Project Copernicus and Ground Up & Rising combine their formidable creative forces to present Story of a Soldier, a concert experience melding visionary classical music and groundbreaking theatre. Project Copernicus’ stirring musical performances will be complemented by compelling theatrical interpretations from Ground Up & Rising. A performance in two acts, Story of a Soldier begins with the world premiere of Project Copernicus’ Steve Danyew’s original composition, "Letters from Iraq." Steve Danyew’s poignant "Letters from Iraq" incorporates music and performances drawn from four actual letters home written by fallen soldiers of the Iraq conflict. The performance continues with Igor Stravinsky’s masterpiece, "A Soldier’s Tale." Stravinsky’s work presents the surreal tale of a young, idealistic WWI soldier whose soul is being vied for by the very Devil himself. The concert commemorates the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War, and honors those fallen soldiers, and all those who are bravely serving our nation.
