About the Show

The first actresses of the English theatre, allowed on stages in the bawdy and troublesome times of Restoration London, were admired by audiences for their flesh and for the novelty of seeing them in their natural habitat – just like animals at the zoo. This is the comedic story of five performers in 1670 and the challenges they faced – sexual abuse, equity pay, fiery competitiveness, and soliciting royal favors. Yet there is a real camaraderie and bond of sisterhood, as they defy issues that still ring true today.
