About This Show

In a unique fusion of opera, dance and theater, Colorado Opera Troupe presents Femmes Fatales, a double bill of the operas Carmen and Salome. Femmes Fatales condenses and intertwines the stories of Carmen and Salome into an intense examination of the psyches of these two infamous seductresses.

Bizet’s Carmen will have a new character, similar to the Ché Guevara figure in Evita, who will comment on the action while at the same time becoming part of the scenes. This opera will be sung in French.

Colorado Opera Troupe’s version of Salome’s story juxtaposes key scenes from Oscar Wilde’s English drama, Salome, with similar scenes from Richard Strauss’s German opera of the same name. This opera will be sung in German.
